(Movie 13 January 2011) Now that the Agneepath remake has been flagged off, here is a comparative analysis of the differences between the original and the remake. In the remake, we will see Hrithik play the character of underworld don, Vijay Dinanath Chauhan which had been immortalised by Amitabh Bachchan. Priyanka Chopra will fill in the shoes of Madhavi, while Sanjay Dutt will take over from Danny Denzongpa as the negative lead. Zarina Wahab will essay the role of the protagonist's mother which was previously brought to life by actress Rohini Hattangadi. The main difference that has been brought about in the script by producer Karan Johar is that MIthun's character as coconut seller, Krishnan, has been entirely done away with. It may be mentioned that Mithun had bagged a Filmfare award for the Best Supporting Actor in the film. Claiming the remake to be a radically different film, Hrithik states, "During the narration, I reacted emotionally to the subject as a new story with no strings attaching it to the old one. Had the intention been to just recreate the earlier film, I would not have done it. But what I heard sparked off my interest and I told myself, 'I can do this, I will enjoy doing it!." The movie is Karan's tribute to his father Lt. Yash Johar, who considered the film quite close to his heart, and is sure of its success. | Views: 1 0 ratings | |
